RE: GVWR question

I tow the trailer in my signature. On our first and only trip so far the truck bottomed out on a couple of bumps over a thousand miles. The trailer was unloaded we had just picked it up from the dealer. A dully would give me a rated GVWR increase of 2000lbs.
Thanks for the call TJ

GVWR question

Hi everyone, Thinking about a new truck and I've noticed something someone maybe able to answer for me. I have an f350 swr and I'm thinking about a dully of some brand. What I've seen on line is a 3500 silverado has a gvwr of 11,400 lbs and the new F350 has a gvwr of 13,000 lbs not sure about Dodge. I believe I read somewhere that the Fords weight is a lot more. Can anyone tell me what they personally have for a useful load in their truck. The other problem is there doesn't seem to be any new dully's at dealers within 100 miles of me. thanks

RE: GM's 1500 truck w/4.3 V6 as a tow vehicle

I have one but mine is a 5 speed. I towed two snowmobiles from Minnesota to Yellowstone on an open trailer. My trailer weight was probally less than 2000lbs. Across North Dakota I could not drive the posted speed of 75, the best I could do was 65mph. I could not pull my trailer in 5th gear at all. However I have never crossed ND on one tank of gas before. Last month I bought a new F150 for $10,980.00 because you can't get a manual in a GM light truck anymore.

RE: New Truck

I bought a new truck last month. I got an additional $1000.00 off by financing it threw Ford. I was told they like to see three payments before you pay it off. But after reading my contract it can be paid off on the first payment. I was told I had to finance at least $10,000.00 and of course I will have at least a months interest to pay.

RE: Yet another 15" to 16" wheel question

Your making a mistake by not checking Ebay. A lot of people take off there factory wheels and sell them as a package and many times they have less than 100 miles on them. One example right now there is a set of new factory take offs that happen to be Ford rims with white letter tires for $595.00. Thease are 18 inch tires that sell for over $200.00 each and there already mounted and balanced and include the rim. Sure there is a shipping charge, but they could be close enough for you to pick them up.

RE: Anyone else like the hallway design?

Great floor plan, we have a Jayco RLSA which is about the same except for the kitchen. Looks less like a trailer and more like a home to us. And I be the first guy to admit that this is the camper that sold my wife on rving. The very last thing she wanted was a shower in the bedroom because she knows I might see her and she knows I would look.

RE: Distance from Dealer/Decent APR right now?

The dealer we bought from is 700 miles away. We bought a Jayco brand, but I believe with anything some will be trouble free some will not. I'm pretty handy and I don't sweat the little things. We did have to change one valance over a window and the dealer sent it to me and I did it. When shopping look every where to get the best price, in our case we saved better than 5 grand because the local dealer said we couldn't get a better price than his.

RE: Designer 35RLTS and Jayco Talk...Thanks Frank!!

I pull our 35 RLSA with a 08 F350 4x4 srw and have the 3.73 rear end. I have no problems. Make sure you know what the GVWR is because they come different ways. I think 11,400lbs is as much as you can get in a srw 4x4 truck.

RE: Just a Tiny Bit disappointed with my F450

I also look at the web site, ford-trucks.com. From there you can go to 2008 6.4 power stroke diesel page. This is a good source of infromation on the new Super Duity Ford. When you talk about regen this is the process that cleans out the dpf. (Diesel Particle Filter) My understanding is when your truck goes into regen a lot of extra fuel is pumped into your truck to heat up the exhaust and clean out this filter, the extra fuel is what's making the motor run crappy or very rich. Job 1 trucks are all the Super Duity trucks made before July 1 of 2007 then started the Job 2 trucks and when the Job 3 came out I'm not sure. I do know Ford made changes to each one mostly reflashing the computer. All job 1 4x4 trucks have a short chin spoiler under the front bumper. Job 2 and beyound have a much larger one. The job 3 trucks are the only ones that actually tell you in the drivers infromation center that the exhaust is cleaning or in rejen. However it's my understanding the the earlier trucks can be reflashed and brought up to the latest spec, however some dealers will not do this unless you have a problem.

RE: Just a Tiny Bit disappointed with my F450

If your truck is lugging going up hill it could be that it is in a regen mode. Cleaning out the DPF. The driver infromation center will tell you this if you have a job 3 truck.

RE: Height of truck bed, is it a problem?

I have an 08 f350 and all my numbers are the same as yours. We bought a Jayco camper and they make it real easy to adjust the height of your trailer with what they call the jake plate. Mine is set right now in the middle spot and were real close to being level. On the other hand our trailer has a pin weight that will be close to 3000 lbs when loaded and this will lower your back end of the truck probally a couple of inches. We do have 6 inches of clearence between the truck bed and trailer.

RE: Will twenty thousand buy a new diesel pickup

On ebay right now, new 07 3/4 Dodge 2x4 regular cab 6.7 in Missouri for 21,995.00 buy it now. Also 1 ton quad cabs in Florida new one is 24 and one 25 thousand both have the 6.7. So the answer to your question in no but you can come very close.

RE: Mini 5er Spotted

I live not far from the Scamp factory. You may be interested in hearing that the place burnt down a couple of years ago but was rebuilt and is back in production. I believe that trailer is only made after an order is receved.

RE: Add-on remote control for leveling jacks

My Jayco came with a unit made by Alta Industries. It control just the front jacks and has six wires that need to be connected, real easy to do. The unit was a $150.00 option I think when I ordered my trailer. I find I really don't use it that much.
